In late September the IPAS juniors visited the Waxahachie Civic Center to participate in the STEM Innovators-In-Training Experience. The students partook in activities related to one of the four pathways: Race Engineering, COMPSCI, ENTERPRISE and Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV). The race engineering pathway help students foster teamwork skills while exploring fundamental variables in race performance including driving 1:10 scale cards. The COMPSCI pathway had a software and hardware workshop, including explorations of binary code. The ENTERPRISE pathway learned leadership concepts and about how UAV pilots, engineers and entrepreneurial leaders are teaming up to change the way we think of disaster recovery, agriculture, conservation and marketing. The UAV pathway enabled participants to experience the data-driven design behind UAV aerodynamics and the opportunity to fly UAV’s in simulation, quadcopter and a glider.
