Engineering Academy at Southwest High School Graduates Its Fifth Class

IPAA/PESA Petroleum Academy at Southwest (IPAS) is proud to announce that 34 seniors graduated from the program. Graduates received medals of distinction from the Academy and/or Fort Worth ISD in late May to wear during their graduation ceremony on June 4. These 34 seniors have been awarded over $125 thousand dollars in scholarships - and still counting! Among our graduating Academy students we have 7 who are graduating in the top ten percent: Josiah Butterfield, Elizabeth Sloan, Renee Ralston, Carlos Padilla, Matthew McSwiggen, Alonza Winston III and Conner Coombs. In addition, senior Jariana Musgrove was chosen by her Academy teachers for a $500 IPAS scholarship.

The excellence of our Academy students does not end with the senior class. IPAS Junior Vianey Jauregui was voted student body president for the 2017-2018 school year. In addition, IPAS Sophomore Luis Tinoco was admitted to Phillips Academy in their Math and Science program for Minority Students in Massachusetts. Luis will attend the Phillips Academy for second year in a row with all expenses paid.
