IPAA/PESA Petroleum Academy at Southwest (IPAS) is proud to announce that 19 seniors graduated from the program. Graduates received medals of distinction from the Academy to wear during their graduation ceremony on June 5. These 19 seniors have been awarded over a half million dollars in scholarships - and still counting! Among our graduating Academy students are Southwest High School’s Valedictorian River Dwight and Salutatorian Jon Dermott. Two other Academy students ranked high among Southwest’s graduates with Shamer Zahir ranking third and Omar Dominguez ranking ninth. In addition, senior Storm Turner was chosen by her Academy teachers for a $500 IPAS scholarship.

The excellence of our Academy students does not end with the senior class. IPAS Junior Fabiola Campos was voted student body president for the 2016-2017 school year. In addition, IPAS Freshmen Luis Tinoco was admitted to Phillips Academy in their Math and Science program for Minority Students in Massachusetts. Luis will attend the Phillips Academy for three consecutive summers with all expenses paid.
